About H2 Design

The UC Davis H2ower Hydrogen Station Design Team is made up of 8 members from different backgrounds and areas of expertise. While four of the team members are studying mechanical engineering, the technical nature of the station design provided a good match for the diverse range of design considerations that mechanical engineers are responsible for. Specific focuses of the various engineers in their research include both electrolysis and hydrogen storage, as well as many other areas that are related to advanced transportation including participation on FutureTruck and research into methanol hydrogen reformation.

In addition to engineering expertise, participation by a landscape architecture student who is focused in the area of green building design, and participation by a MBA/engineering student whose focus is in the area of advanced renewable energy technologies both complemented the team well. Additionally, participation by a web designer provided us an excellent tool for enhancing our public outreach The team was lead by a transportation technology and policy student whose focus is in renewable hydrogen production. The team as a whole was split with half of the team being undergraduate students and half of it being graduate students. In all, the makeup of the team provided an excellent group of positive and inspired individuals. Further, expertise in a diverse range of areas lead to an education of all of the team members in a way none of us could have expected.
